Dental Bridges

Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics mainly deals with the replacement of missing teeth and other parts of the mouth such as jaw structures by using dentures, and other artificial devices. The damage may have occurred due to traumatic injuries, gum diseases, decay or diseases that have been present since birth. Owing to the complexity of the clinical problems of the patient almost all types of fixed or removable and operative prosthesis may be necessary. Prosthodontics ultimately restores your smile optimally and improves their appearance.

Under prosthodontics, we offer a wide range of treatments:

Dental bridges

When a tooth is missing, it causes difficulties in speech, eating etc. Dental bridges replace the missing tooth and act as a connecting bridge to the adjoin tooth. Dental bridges restore your smile and help in placing the jaws together while eating or during speech. They hold the other teeth together in the mouth and prevent them from drifting apart.

The common types of dental bridges used are:

  • Traditional Bridges are the most commonly used ones. They are made from porcelain mostly fused with to metals.

  • Maryland Bridge involves a metal framework in which the false tooth is attached to the metal wings that are connected to the adjoining teeth which holds it in place.

  • Cantilever Bridge comes into play when there are no adjoining teeth present on either side of the missing tooth. An additional false tooth has to be used here that bridges the false teeth to the permanent teeth.

  • Here the dentist will diagnose your condition and decides the type of bridge to be used. Impressions of the teeth are taken first and the bridges, crown, false teeth etc are manufactured accordingly. Proper cleaning and maintenance of the bridges with a proxy brush or dental floss is necessary.
